Warm ups are made for athletes to get ready for the game that they are about to play. Having a good warm up is essential for athletes to get mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared.
If you watch any professional athlete, they will spend lots of time stretching out to get physically ready for the game.
what can you do for warm ups?
Coming from a D1 athlete...
As you mature in your sport, you develop your own routines that help you get ready for games. Some ways that you can warm up are: Stretching, breathing, practicing (your sport), and listening to music.
We made a survey for NCAA and professional athletes. One question we asked them was; if music helps them get ready for a game. Here's Dylan Woolf's (D1 Hockey Player at St. Lawrence University) response to that question: "I think it helps me get focused, and in the end, helps me play better on the ice."
